Residents of Güímar Industrial Estate are demanding urgent action from authorities to address severe health and environmental problems caused by excessive rubbish and a rampant rat infestation, attributed to irresponsible dumping and inadequate waste management.

Too much rubbish piling up and a growing number of rats in the Güímar Industrial Estate are causing health and environmental problems. This has led local residents to complain to the authorities. A TV Canaria program called 'Hay que verlo' reported that waste management in the area has gotten much worse. This has caused a rat problem, which directly affects public health and the quality of life for people who work or live nearby.

Local media has collected stories describing clearly unhygienic conditions, especially around bus stops and industrial zones. Residents say there are huge numbers of rats, with frequent sightings and even physical encounters, showing how big the problem is. One resident, Raúl, explained how seeing just one rat quickly turned into confirmation of a full-blown infestation.

According to those affected, the problem stems from people dumping rubbish irresponsibly and the local council not providing enough resources for waste management. People have reported seeing rubble, old car parts, used oils, and building materials all dumped together without any sorting. The bins are often full and sometimes broken, showing that the current system can't handle the amount of waste.

Even though rubbish is usually collected early in the morning, residents feel it's not often enough. They point out that many people, including factory workers, use the industrial estate and leave their waste there. Because of this, the community has formally asked the relevant authorities for an urgent solution to the area's declining environmental and health conditions.
