The IES Mencey Acaymo in Güímar has established itself as a strategic hub for emergency response training by partnering with state security forces and rescue agencies to provide students with hands-on crisis management experience.

Güímar has become a key hub for public safety training, thanks to the efforts of the IES Mencey Acaymo. The school is successfully bridging the gap between classroom theory and real-world emergency response, positioning the Tenerife municipality as a strategic center for risk management education.

The program’s highlight was an intensive training course on self-protection and crisis response. Students from various disciplines took part, gaining hands-on experience that mirrors professional field work. Despite some scheduling changes caused by poor weather, school administrators were pleased with the results, confirming that all technical learning goals were met.

The event’s success relied on strong collaboration between different agencies. Experts from Maritime Rescue, volcanology, the Civil Guard, and other state security forces worked alongside students. The training also received operational support from the Canary Islands Police, the Army, the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC), the Emergency and Rescue Group (GES), and local volunteer firefighters.

This partnership between educators and emergency services is vital for a region where the unique landscape and volcanic activity require a highly coordinated response. With the support of the Güímar City Council, IES Mencey Acaymo has proven itself as a leader in emergency training, and the school plans to continue fostering these essential professional connections.
