Güímar Boosts Public Transport for 2026 Fiestas del Socorro

Güímar is gearing up for one of Tenerife’s biggest annual events: the 2026 Fiestas del Socorro. To manage the thousands of people expected to join the pilgrimage on September 7th and 8th, the municipality is launching a reinforced public transport plan.

Working alongside the island’s transport company, TITSA, officials are adding 20,000 extra seats to the network. This is a significant increase from the 14,865 passengers recorded during the 2025 festivities. The plan includes a new temporary route, line 530, connecting the local station to the coast, alongside more frequent service on lines 120 and 121. Additionally, line 033 will offer extra trips for visitors from Fasnia and nearby areas, while lines 032 and 035 will follow detours to avoid road closures on Avenida Obispo Pérez Cáceres.

The religious and cultural program, which will be attended by the Bishop of the Nivariense Diocese, Eloy Alberto Santiago Santiago, remains the heart of the celebration. On Monday, September 7th, the festivities begin at dawn with bells ringing at San Pedro Apóstol. Following a morning mass, the statue of the Virgin will be carried to the El Socorro hermitage, a journey that includes the traditional Guanche Ceremony at the Cruz de Tea.

The celebrations conclude on Tuesday, September 8th—the day of the Nativity—with a high mass and the return of the statue to the parish of San Pedro. Because these events completely change local traffic patterns, the city has implemented careful planning, including temporary bus stops like stop 8094, to ensure the safety and smooth movement of all attendees.
