French Paraglider Injured in Tenerife Fall
A 65-year-old French man sustained moderate injuries to both arms after falling during a paragliding takeoff in Fasnia, southern Tenerife, and was subsequently rescued and hospitalized.
A 65-year-old French man suffered moderate injuries on Tuesday afternoon after falling while paragliding in southern Tenerife.
The accident happened at 4:45 PM in the municipality of Fasnia, according to the Canarian Government's emergency services.
He fell while attempting to take off from the Montaña viewpoint, located near the island road between Fasnia town center and Los Roques.
Paramedics from the Canarian Emergency Service (SUC) were the first to assess him, noting injuries to both of his arms.
Because the man was in a hard-to-reach location, firefighters from the Tenerife Consortium, based in Güímar, had to rescue him. They carried him to a spot where an ambulance could access.
The ambulance then transported him to the emergency department of Nuestra Señora de La Candelaria University Hospital.
Fasnia local police also assisted with the operation.
