
Four Injured, One Critical, in La Matanza Car Crash
Four people were injured, one critically, in a serious car crash involving two vehicles and two pedestrians on the TF-217 road in La Matanza de Acentejo on Friday.
Four people were injured, one critically, in a serious car crash on the TF-217 road in La Matanza de Acentejo on Friday afternoon, January 24, 2026. Emergency services (CECOES 112) reported the incident.
The crash occurred at 5:13 PM when two cars collided, subsequently hitting two pedestrians. Emergency teams quickly responded, sending three ambulances from the Canarian Emergency Service (including one with a medical team), firefighters from the Tenerife Fire Consortium, the Civil Guard, and road maintenance crews.
Paramedics found the 76-year-old driver of one car in cardiac arrest. They successfully resuscitated him using basic and advanced techniques. Once stabilized, he was taken by ambulance in critical condition to Nuestra Señora de La Candelaria University Hospital, where he remains hospitalized with a severe head injury.
The two pedestrians, a 60-year-old woman and a 55-year-old man, suffered minor injuries, including cuts and neck pain. They were also taken to Nuestra Señora de La Candelaria University Hospital by ambulance. The 30-year-old woman driving the second car was treated for a mild anxiety attack at the scene and did not need to go to the hospital.
Firefighters made the vehicles safe, while the Civil Guard handled the police investigation. Road crews then cleared the road to restore normal traffic flow.
