Four Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash on Tenerife’s TF-5 Highway
Four people, including two minors, were hospitalized following a two-vehicle collision on the TF-5 highway in La Guancha, Tenerife, this Thursday.
Road safety in northern Tenerife is back in the spotlight following a crash on the TF-5 this Thursday. According to the Canary Islands’ emergency services (Cecoes), four people were injured in the incident, which occurred in La Guancha. The collision serves as a reminder of how vulnerable the island’s busy highways are during peak hours, where heavy traffic and road layout require constant attention from authorities.
The accident happened at 4:19 p.m. near a gas station in the Santa Catalina area. Two cars were involved in a side-impact collision, which was severe enough to tear a wheel off one of the vehicles. Emergency services (1-1-2) quickly dispatched two medical units and officers from the Civil Guard’s Icod de los Vinos detachment, who are now investigating the cause of the crash.
All four people involved were taken to the hospital. A 47-year-old woman was treated for moderate neck pain, and a 40-year-old woman was treated for moderate chest pain; both were taken to Hospiten Bellevue in Puerto de la Cruz. Two minors, aged 15 and 17, were also admitted to the same hospital—one with moderate chest pain and the other with minor leg injuries. The incident highlights the critical need for efficient emergency response and ongoing accident prevention on the island’s challenging road network.
