The Civil Guard has arrested a 47-year-old man in Tenerife, accused of sexually harassing teenage girls he coached on a football team.

The Civil Guard, as part of 'Operation Trainer,' has arrested a 47-year-old man from Tenerife. He is accused of sexual harassment while he was a coach for a girls' football team (ages 14-17) on the island. He had been coaching this team until just a few days ago.

Officers from the Civil Guard's Women and Minors Team (EMUME) in Santa Cruz de Tenerife immediately began an investigation after receiving reports about the serious crime. Their main goals were to protect the underage victims and quickly get to the bottom of the situation. After several investigations and inquiries, they gathered enough evidence and clues within just a few days to understand how the harassment was allegedly carried out.

Officers found that the accused sent inappropriate text messages to his victims using messaging apps. He also allegedly used training sessions and matches to make sexual comments to them in person.

Given the seriousness of these alleged crimes, officers identified, located, and arrested the suspect. He has been handed over to the judicial authorities, along with the case files.

So far, several underage girls have been identified as victims, and more may come forward. The arrested man had been involved with the sports club for several years, always in the women's football section, though this was his first season as a coach.

The club has fully cooperated with the police investigation. They have also put child protection measures in place and are supporting the victims' parents.
