Strong winds reaching 107 km/h forced five flights bound for Bilbao Airport on Thursday to be diverted to other locations or return to their origins.

Five flights bound for Bilbao Airport on Thursday had to be diverted to other locations because of strong winds in Euskadi. The powerful gusts, which reached speeds of 107 kilometers per hour in Orduña and 105 km/h in La Arboleda during the morning, made it impossible for planes to land safely at Bilbao's La Paloma airport.

One flight from Munich, expected to arrive at 10:50 AM, had to turn back and return to its starting point.

Later, a flight from London, due at 12:20 PM, was diverted to Vitoria. Shortly after, another plane from Tenerife, scheduled to land in Bilbao at 1:50 PM, was also sent to Vitoria Airport.

Additionally, a flight from Barcelona, which was supposed to land around 1:40 PM, also had to return to its origin airport. Finally, a plane from Granada, expected in Bilbao at 2:30 PM, landed in Vitoria instead.
