Police in Tenerife arrested five individuals and issued over 110 drug possession reports during a major security operation at two electronic music festivals in Costa Adeje over the Easter weekend.

Security at major music events in Tenerife is back in the spotlight following a significant police operation over the Easter weekend. Officers from the National and Local Police in Costa Adeje arrested five people for allegedly selling drugs near two electronic music festivals.

The operation focused on securing event entrances. Over two days, police intercepted four men and one woman, all Spanish nationals aged between 30 and 50. On Friday, an estimated 6,000 people attended the event in San Eugenio, while Saturday’s festival in La Caleta and Golf Costa Adeje drew up to 5,000 attendees. During the operation, the Prevention and Reaction Unit (UPR) and the Local Police Canine Unit issued more than 110 reports for drug possession.

The items seized highlight the growing challenge of illicit substances at these events. Police recovered various synthetic drugs, including "pink cocaine" (tusi). This mixture, which typically contains ketamine, MDMA, and caffeine, is considered particularly dangerous due to its unpredictable and potent effects.

These operations reflect a push by authorities to increase security at large nightlife events. By intensifying screening at entrances, police aim to curb drug trafficking and reduce the risks posed by synthetic substances in crowded environments. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to identify the source of the drugs and potential links to larger distribution networks.
