Firefighters quickly extinguished a blaze that fully engulfed a business in Los Cristianos, Arona, early Thursday, following resident evacuations due to smoke.

Firefighters from San Miguel de Abona in Tenerife responded early Thursday morning to a fire at a business in southern Tenerife.

The incident happened at a shop on Juan Alfonso Batista Avenue in Los Cristianos, Arona, just a few meters from the beach.

The alert came in around 4:30 AM via a call to the 1-1-2 emergency control room. It reported smoke in the four-story building where the business was located, as well as in other adjacent shops.

When firefighters arrived, they confirmed that the Arona Local Police had already evacuated residents from buildings affected by the smoke.

After gaining entry, firefighters quickly put out the flames, which had fully engulfed the business. Once the fire was out, they checked and ventilated the underground warehouse. An ambulance from the Canarian Emergency Service (SUC) was also on standby.
