Firefighters in Tenerife used a ladder truck and special stretcher to rescue a person with mobility issues from their Santa Cruz de Tenerife home on Wednesday.

Firefighters in Tenerife successfully rescued a person with mobility issues from their home in Santa Cruz de Tenerife on Wednesday morning.

The rescue took place in a building on Avenida de Madrid. Because of the building's design and the person's condition, firefighters used a ladder truck with a special basket stretcher to carefully bring the individual down from an upper floor.

To ensure everyone's safety, the local police temporarily closed a section of Avenida de Madrid during the operation.

Firefighters from the Tomé Cano station worked together, managing the rescue from outside the building and setting up the ladder truck.

Once the person was safely on the street, medical staff from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) took over, providing care and taking them to a local hospital by ambulance.

The Tenerife Fire Consortium stressed how crucial it is for different emergency services to work together during these kinds of rescues.

They also pointed out that using equipment like ladder trucks and basket stretchers is vital for safely and quickly rescuing people with limited mobility or those in difficult-to-access places.

The Tomé Cano firefighters are known for handling many urban emergencies, including rescues and technical assistance, as they cover a large part of Santa Cruz.

The Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) reminds everyone that for any medical emergency or rescue, the quickest way to get help is to call 1-1-2, the all-in-one emergency number for the Canary Islands, which is available around the clock.

These operations demonstrate the effective teamwork between firefighters, police, and medical services, all working together to help those who are vulnerable or have difficulty moving.
