Santa Cruz de Tenerife will host a free open-air concert by the Municipal Music Band at Plaza del Príncipe on July 9, 2026, featuring iconic film scores as part of the 20th Tenerife International Film Music Festival.

On Thursday, July 9, 2026, Santa Cruz de Tenerife’s Plaza del Príncipe will host a special cultural event designed to bring symphonic music directly into the heart of the city. As part of the 20th Tenerife International Film Music Festival (Fimucité), the initiative aims to move performances out of traditional concert halls and into public spaces.

The Municipal Music Band, led by its 2025/2026 season director, will perform a challenging program featuring custom arrangements by composer David Hernández Herrera. Starting at 7:00 p.m., the concert will take the audience on a musical journey through cinema history. The repertoire spans a wide range of genres, from the epic war themes of Miklós Rózsa, Ernest Gold, and Kenneth Alford to the suspenseful scores of Bernard Herrmann, Jerry Goldsmith, John Williams, and John Debney. The performance will also feature iconic music from The Lord of the Rings trilogy by Howard Shore, alongside nostalgic melodies by Henry Mancini, Charles Chaplin, and Vangelis.

City officials view this event as a vital part of their strategy to revitalize local culture. Mayor José Manuel Bermúdez emphasized that collaborating with Fimucité helps establish the capital as a leader in the performing arts. Santiago Díaz Mejías, the Councilor for Culture, praised the band’s ability to perform such a complex program and encouraged the public to attend this free event. By hosting the concert in the plaza, the city continues its trend of transforming public spaces into high-quality stages, making cinematic music more accessible to everyone.
