Filmoteca Canaria Previews Japanese Animation Series with 'My Hero Academia' Screening
The Filmoteca Canaria is launching its new Japanese cinema series with screenings of My Hero Academia: Two Heroes in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Santa Cruz de Tenerife this week.
The Filmoteca Canaria is wrapping up its current season with a special screening that previews its upcoming focus on Japanese cinema. This event serves as an introduction to the Japan Animates series, a tribute to the animation genre that also marks the tenth anniversary of Kohei Horikoshi’s popular franchise.
The featured film is the 2018 release My Hero Academia: Two Heroes, directed by Kenji Nagasaki. The story follows protagonists Izuku Midoriya and his mentor as they visit I-Island, a high-tech floating city, to attend a conference on superhuman abilities. The plot kicks into gear when security is breached and a villain takes the island’s population hostage, forcing the heroes to step in.
The screenings will take place this week: Tuesday at the Teatro Guiniguada in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Thursday at the Espacio La Granja in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Both shows begin at 7:00 p.m. and will be presented in their original language with subtitles.
