Film Symphony Orchestra Brings 'Toon Story' Tour to Canary Islands
The Film Symphony Orchestra will bring its animated-themed production, Toon Story, to Gran Canaria and Tenerife this spring for an eight-show tour featuring iconic soundtracks.
The Film Symphony Orchestra (FSO) is returning to the Canary Islands this spring with its latest production, Toon Story. With over a decade of experience, the orchestra has built a strong connection with local audiences since its first visit in 2017 and will perform eight shows across Gran Canaria and Tenerife.
Toon Story is a symphonic journey through the world of animated film. Led by conductor Constantino Martínez-Orts, more than 70 musicians will perform 16 iconic pieces, ranging from timeless classics to modern hits. The show goes beyond a standard concert; the conductor acts as a guide, providing stories and context for each piece. Organizers expect over 12,000 people to attend across the islands.
The tour kicks off at the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria from April 24 to 26, before moving to the Adán Martín Auditorium in Tenerife on May 2 and 3. This visit is part of a larger national tour spanning 30 Spanish cities. Since returning to the stage in 2022, the FSO has drawn a total of 650,000 spectators.
By focusing on animated soundtracks—including music from Toy Story, The Lion King, and How to Train Your Dragon—the FSO aims to make orchestral music accessible to everyone. This approach bridges the gap between technical musical excellence and popular entertainment, successfully introducing symphonic music to audiences who might not otherwise visit an auditorium.
