Ficindie 2025 concludes with events in Tenerife focusing on social change through film and an awards ceremony in La Laguna celebrating independent cinema.
The Canary Islands International Independent and Author Film Festival (Ficindie 2025) is wrapping up with two special events that mix discussions, film screenings, and a celebration of filmmaking talent.
This Friday, the festival heads to CIFP César Manrique in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The day will focus on independent films that highlight gender equality and LGBTQ+ diversity.
In the morning, they'll be showing some of the best films from this year's festival. There will also be an "Indie Lab" about independent film and preserving memories, featuring Peruvian filmmaker Marianela Vega Orozaristiano Donzelli, who is famous for her work on "El Archivo Bastardo." Plus, there will be talks and discussions about how film can drive social change and show new perspectives.
On Saturday, Ficindie will host its awards ceremony and closing gala at Sala Cultural El Desleal in La Laguna at 7:00 p.m. Filmmakers, producers, and other industry professionals will gather to celebrate the end of a successful year. According to organizers, this year stood out because of the high quality of the films and the collaborative atmosphere of the festival.
This year, the Canary Islands International Independent and Author Film Festival received 392 films from all over the world. Of those, 18 were chosen to compete in different categories, showcasing the variety, quality, and energy of today's independent film scene.
