FEPECO: Tenerife Planning Delays Push Businesses to Brink

Oscar Izquierdo, president of FEPECO, is speaking out on behalf of unhappy businesses in Tenerife's development, construction, and real estate sectors. He is criticizing the disorganized and slow urban planning departments in the town halls of Garachico, Granadilla, and Candelaria. This ongoing bureaucratic and political inefficiency is pushing companies to the brink of survival.

These three councils are a prime example of chaotic and out-of-control public administration. The unacceptable delays in issuing licenses have created a dangerous situation where legal uncertainty has become the norm.

The difficult situation faced by investors, who once put their trust in these three areas, has prompted FEPECO, the employers' association for the sector, to take action. They have formally requested information from the urban planning offices in each municipality. They want to know how many major building permits have been requested but not processed properly or on time, asking for the application date and current status of every single license. FEPECO's aim is to use all legal means available to untangle the bureaucratic mess plaguing Garachico, Granadilla, and Candelaria councils.
