Fabián Cristo Hernández Ramos Elected President of Asintra in Historic Leadership Shift
Fabián Cristo Hernández Ramos has been elected president of Asintra, marking a historic leadership transition that includes the association's first female board members and a focus on technological modernization for the Canary Islands' automotive repair sector.
Asintra, the association for vehicle repair shops in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, has officially begun a new chapter. Following an electoral process that started in February, the organization held an event at Femete headquarters on Wednesday, April 15, to confirm its new leadership. Fabián Cristo Hernández Ramos has been elected president, succeeding Francisco Roca Miranda, who held the position for nearly a decade.
This transition marks a historic milestone in the association’s 48-year history. For the first time, three women have joined the governing board: Clara Dorta Grillo as treasurer, and Carmen Elena Mamposo García and Ana Belén de León Pérez as board members. This new structure aims to increase diversity and improve representation across Tenerife, La Palma, and El Hierro, with plans to include La Gomera in the near future.
The new leadership team, which also includes Vice President Faustino Javier Negrín Medina and Secretary Jorge Daniel Trujillo Mújica, takes office as the automotive industry faces significant changes. In his inaugural speech, Hernández Ramos emphasized the importance of technological modernization, professional training, and managing generational succession to ensure the long-term success of repair shops and maintain high standards of road safety.
The event was attended by Manuel Fernández, the Minister of Industry for the Cabildo of Tenerife, who joined others in honoring the outgoing board. Francisco Roca received a commemorative award and promised to support the transition, while Femete secretary general José González praised the handover as a sign of the organization's ongoing stability. Moving forward, the association plans to focus on member-centered management and improved communication to navigate the economic and technical challenges facing the automotive maintenance sector in the Canary Islands.
