The anniversary Pinolere Handicraft Fair has started in the Canary Islands.
The Canary Islands are hosting the XL Pinolere Handicraft Fair, celebrating its anniversary and dedicated to the transmission of traditions from generation to generation, with an exhibition of works by 180 artisans, workshops, and a cultural program.
On Thursday, September 4, a cool exhibition opens in the Canary Islands – the XL Pinolere Handicrafts Fair! It will be open until Sunday from 10:00 to 20:00.
This year is the anniversary of the fair, so the opening was specially made on Thursday for the convenience of tourists. The main theme is the transfer of traditions from generation to generation. About 180 artisans from all over the archipelago will come together.
On Thursday at 11:30 a mural dedicated to the crafts of the Canary Islands will be unveiled. It was created by @airjecor based on a sketch by master Juan Ramírez Pérez, who works with reeds in Santa Lucía de Tirajana. After that, there will be an official opening with officials.
The winners of Cho Feriantes 2025 will also be awarded: Genoveva González, Cabildo Tenerife and Gráficas Echeyde. The Patrimonio Villa de La Orotava prize, dedicated to flower candles from La Orotava, will also be awarded. It will be received (posthumously) by Pedro Villar Morales, who invented these candles.
They will also remember those who started the Pinolere Handicrafts Fair, as well as the author of the first poster – José Luis de León Torres.
In the afternoon, the 39th issue of the journal El Pajar-Cuaderno de Etnografía Canaria Oralidad y Tradición oral will be presented. It will be presented by Chano Díaz Afonso from the La furgoneta fantástica project.
On Friday at 12:30, young artisans from the Canary Islands, who are the very "change of generations", will be celebrated.
There will be many interesting things for everyone on the weekend: exhibitions, book presentations, a meeting of stick game lovers, children's workshops, memorial events, folklore performances, tastings, educational concerts and delicious food.
For adults, there will be workshops on lace making, wheat straw braiding and traditional Canarian pottery. The fair will be open daily from 10:00 to 20:00.
A free bus will run to the fair. It will depart every hour from the center of Villa, from Sor Soledad Cobian Avenue. On Thursday, the 4th, the bus will also run from Puerto de la Cruz, from José María Campo Larena Avenue, 2.
