Espacio La Granja in Santa Cruz de Tenerife hosts the sold-out premiere of VérticeHEART’s Las mil caras de la verdad, marking the venue's first artistic residency dedicated to contemporary circus.

Espacio La Granja in Santa Cruz de Tenerife is cementing its reputation as a hub for circus arts this week. The venue, managed by the Government of the Canary Islands, recently hosted its first-ever artistic residency for a local company. This milestone concludes this Friday at 8:00 p.m. with the sold-out premiere of Las mil caras de la verdad (The Thousand Faces of Truth) by VérticeHEART.

The production marks a significant moment for the local arts scene by blending physical theater, dance, and contemporary circus. The performance features three artists exploring themes of personal identity and self-discovery, symbolized by the characters shedding layers that hide their true selves.

The show is directed by Rubén Adrian, a veteran of the national and international stage. His impressive background includes working with Franco Dragone—a key creative force behind Cirque du Soleil—as well as performing in major productions like The Hole and with the renowned group La Fura dels Baus. Adrian brings his technical expertise in aerial and acrobatic disciplines, including the Chinese pole, trapeze, and aerial straps, to the production.

The cast also features Saray Salcedo, known for her blend of acrobatics and physical performance, and newcomer Mario Melandro, who brings a fresh perspective to the company’s work.

Residencies like this do more than just produce new shows; they highlight the importance of using public spaces for technical research and creative development. By supporting VérticeHEART, Espacio La Granja is helping to professionalize the circus sector in the Canary Islands, allowing artists with global experience to share their expertise with the local community.
