"Panorama" of the islands of the world starts with screenings on El Hierro
The online festival "Insularia-Islands of the World" kicks off in Spain with the screening of 11 award-winning films from various islands around the world, raising themes of migration, ecology, and identity.
Today, Friday, "Panorama" kicks off as part of the online festival "Insularia-Islands of the World." It's a showcase of contemporary cinema from various islands, featuring 11 films from Greece, Iceland, Cyprus, the Philippines, Réunion, Cuba, Martinique, Chiloé, the Balearic Islands, and the Canary Islands.
These films have already been featured and awarded at international festivals. Some of them will be shown for the first time in Spain.
This year, "Panorama" is collaborating with a film festival from Chiloé (Chile). The films address important themes such as migration, family issues, ecology, poverty, diversity, and identity.
The first screenings will take place today and tomorrow (at 8:30 PM) on the island of El Hierro: in the Tigaiga Square (La Frontera) and in the La Restinga Square (El Pinar) on October 10th and 11th (at 8:30 PM).
After El Hierro, "Panorama" will continue to La Palma (October 13th and 27th, Teatro Chico), La Graciosa (17th and 18th, Caleta del Sebo), La Gomera (18th and 25th, Auditorio Infanta Cristina), Tenerife (20th, TEA Tenerife Espacio de las Artes), Lanzarote (24th and 25th, Museo del Timple), Fuerteventura (24th and 25th, Centro Cultural Casa del Zapatero), and Gran Canaria (31st, Teatro Hespérides de Santa María de Guía).
The "Insularia" festival is supported by Promotur, Turismo de Islas Canarias (local government), Cabildo de El Hierro, and the municipalities hosting the festival.
