A man in his seventies is in serious condition after a near-drowning incident at Torviscas beach in Adeje, Tenerife, this Friday.
The emergency began shortly before 3:30 p.m. when lifeguards pulled the man from the water. Finding him in cardiorespiratory arrest, they immediately began CPR. A medical team from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) soon arrived to take over, successfully stabilizing the man with advanced life-support techniques before rushing him to Hospiten Sur University Hospital.
The incident highlights the vital importance of quick action and coordination between lifeguards, medical staff, and the Adeje Local Police. In cases involving elderly patients, rapid intervention is essential to prevent long-term health complications caused by a lack of oxygen. The man remains under hospital care as doctors monitor his recovery.
