El Sauzal Unveils €280,000 Subsidy Program for Local Businesses
El Sauzal's mayor announced a €240,000-€280,000 subsidy program for local businesses and entrepreneurs, ranging from €350 to €3,000 per applicant, to help offset rising taxes and fees in 2026.
"We won't abandon them, and we proved that during Covid and the fire," said El Sauzal's mayor, Mariano Pérez, on Monday evening at the Casco Cultural Center. He was speaking to over a hundred local business owners, promising a new subsidy program to help them cope with rising taxes and fees next year.
This program, with a budget of €240,000 to €280,000, is for self-employed individuals, small and medium-sized businesses, and entrepreneurs operating in El Sauzal. The amount each applicant receives will depend on their business size and commitment, ranging from €350 to €3,000.
The details of this subsidy program, planned for 2026, are currently being finalized. The local government says this initiative shows their dedication to boosting the local economy and creating opportunities for El Sauzal residents. The town council approved next year's budget last week. Mayor Pérez believes they won't need to change the budget, as the funds will come from the council's existing surplus. If that's not enough, they will adjust the budget, potentially reallocating funds originally set aside for road repairs to these new subsidies.
"We want to help our business owners and entrepreneurs, who drive El Sauzal's economy," Pérez explained. "We understand that small businesses need help to keep growing and face new market demands. Without support for sports clubs, cultural groups, shops, and restaurants, El Sauzal would lose its vitality."
The meeting also included discussions on environmental initiatives, such as improving recycling efforts and reducing pollution.
