El Sauzal Kicks Off 21st Amateur Theater Festival

The 21st Amateur Theater Festival Villa de El Sauzal kicks off today, Wednesday, and runs until Sunday. This year, seven amateur theater groups and one professional company will take part. Beyond the stage shows, the festival also offers training sessions and a gathering for the Canarian Federation of Amateur Theater. Tonight at the El Sauzal Theater, the Teatruva Group from La Orotava will open the festival at 7:00 PM with their play 'La vida privada de mamá.' Later, at 9:00 PM, the Cultural Association Descúbrete Teatro from La Laguna will present 'Ha llegado una inspectora.'

Tomorrow, Thursday, you can catch Cedarpre from Guía de Isora performing 'Turistas en la casa fantasma' at 7:00 PM. Following that, at 9:00 PM, Los Girasoles from El Rosario will stage 'Las bodas de oro.' On Friday, the University Association Apeirón Teatro from La Laguna will present the children's and family comedy 'Brujas que cuentan' at 7:00 PM. The day wraps up with the Youth and Cultural Association Alongateatro, also from La Laguna, performing 'RealLove' at 9:00 PM.

Saturday's schedule includes 'Farsa del licenciado Pathelin y la tinaja' at 7:00 PM, presented by the Cultural Association Jinamarte Teatro from Telde.

The festival concludes on Sunday. The day begins at 7:00 PM with the awards ceremony. Afterwards, the professional theater performance takes the stage. The Riojan company El Perro Azul Teatro will present 'Globe Story' by Jorge Padín at 8:00 PM, followed by a Q&A session with the audience. Earlier in the day, at 5:00 PM, the multipurpose hall will host the 5th Amateur Theater Meeting.

Additionally, from Saturday until December 9, artist and teacher Vesna Puric will lead an intensive workshop titled 'Despierta tu cuerpo, sacude tus hábitos' (Wake up your body, shake up your habits).
