El Rosario Prioritizes Coastal Repairs Ahead of Easter Holidays
The El Rosario City Council is prioritizing urgent coastal repairs in Radazul and Tabaiba to ensure safety and accessibility ahead of the upcoming Easter holiday season.
The El Rosario City Council has made restoring the local coastline its top priority following the damage caused by Storm Therese. Officials are working to repair structural issues and prepare the area for the influx of visitors expected during the upcoming Easter holidays.
Crews are currently using heavy machinery, including backhoe loaders and forklifts, to focus on the Radazul and Tabaiba areas. Work includes repairing promenade pavements, grooming sandy areas, and replacing garden features. Additionally, safety systems are being installed at Tabaiba’s sea access points to protect swimmers.
These repairs are complicated by the administrative rules governing coastal land. While work is underway in Radazul and Tabaiba, the City Council has paused operations in Bocacangrejo while waiting for mandatory approval from the General Directorate of Coasts, which oversees state-controlled coastal areas.
Mayor Escolástico Gil has been personally overseeing the progress, noting that the goal is to ensure all public spaces are safe and accessible before the busy season begins. Once the major repairs are finished, the council will complete the cleanup with minor maintenance, such as updating signage and making final technical adjustments to ensure the coast is ready for the months ahead.
