El Rosario Advances La Esperanza Municipal Swimming Pool Project
El Rosario City Council has launched the design phase for a new 6-million-euro municipal sports complex, marking a significant step toward providing local residents with a modern aquatic and fitness facility.
El Rosario City Council is finally moving forward with the long-awaited construction of the La Esperanza municipal swimming pool. The project has reached a key milestone, with the council receiving four technical bids to design the facility, a contract valued at 169,000 euros.
This project is being funded entirely by the local government, which has set aside 6 million euros to ensure the first phase of construction can proceed without waiting for outside funding—a common cause of delays in the past. Mayor Escolástico Gil noted that this use of local resources marks the final step in a long process, from acquiring the land to completing the technical planning, and fulfills a major part of his administration’s goals.
The new facility will be built on Francisco Rodríguez Machado Street, right next to the existing Sports Pavilion, and is expected to serve about 8,000 local residents. The site will feature much more than just a swimming pool; plans include a gym, paddle tennis courts, a therapeutic pool, changing rooms, administrative offices, and parking.
By funding this project internally, El Rosario is demonstrating how medium-sized towns can take charge of major infrastructure needs. With the design phase now underway, the council is preparing to open the construction contract for bidding, bringing the town one step closer to providing a modern sports and aquatic center for the community.
