El Mensajero Secures Palmero Derby Victory Over Tenisca
El Mensajero secured a 2-0 victory over Tenisca in the long-awaited Palmero derby, with goals from David Grande and Ale Ojeda propelling them to third place in the league.
El Mensajero won the Palmero derby 2-0 against Tenisca, a match played at Virgen de las Nieves after a four-season break.
Tenisca started stronger, but El Mensajero improved and took the lead around the 30-minute mark with a goal from David Grande. In the second half, both teams had chances, but El Mensajero sealed their win with a late counter-attack goal from Ale Ojeda.
Early in the game, Tenisca showed more energy and had an early chance through Jorge Gómez, who went down in the box but no penalty was given. Pollo had a shot wide for El Mensajero.
El Mensajero played more directly and had a clear opportunity midway through the first half when Kylian couldn't hold onto a cross, but the goalkeeper recovered well to save Pollo's shot.
As the game progressed, El Mensajero became more dangerous. At the half-hour mark, Cabezola made a run down the left and crossed to an unmarked David Grande, who scored to make it 0-1. The pace slowed after the goal, and the first half ended without further incident.
In the second half, the teams were evenly matched. Bryan headed a cross from Agoney just over the bar, and Kylian saved a shot from David Grande. The goalkeeper then denied Ayoze Placeres from the resulting corner.
David Grande scored again in the 76th minute, but it was ruled offside. However, in the 85th minute, after a save from Arellano, El Mensajero launched a counter-attack. Víctor passed to Ale Ojeda, who rounded the keeper to score, making the final score 0-2.
This win moves El Mensajero up to third place in the league, level on points with Lanzarote and Tenerife C, and just two points behind leaders Atlético Paso. Tenisca, meanwhile, drops to second-to-last place, level on points with San Miguel, and is only one point from safety.
This result is a setback for Tenisca, who recently celebrated a win under their new coach, Juan Arsenal, but then lost to Tenerife C and now the derby. They will play Marino next. El Mensajero faces another derby against Atlético Paso.
