El Médano celebrates the Day of Our Lady of Mercy of El Roque: program of events
The celebration of Our Lady of Mercy of El Médano is underway, featuring a variety of activities ranging from children's entertainment to the grand Barker Pilgrimage.
The town of El Médano is currently celebrating the Festival of Our Lady of Mercy of El Roque. The celebrations began last Friday, September 12, with a night march to the Era del Hermano Pedro and will continue until September 24.
Today, Tuesday, September 16, various entertainments await children from 4:30 p.m. And tomorrow, Wednesday, September 17, at 6:00 p.m., there will be a celebration for the elderly. El Charro and Pepe Benavente will perform for them. On Thursday, September 18, at 9:30 p.m., an evening of humor with Omaira Cazorla awaits you. On Friday, September 19, a youth party in the style of the 80s is organized. Dj Renzzo El Selector, Dj Daviz Pérez, Agua del Chorro, Ni un pelo de Tonto, Escuela de Calor and Dj Fabrizio will play.
One of the largest events will be the XVIII Romeria Barquera on September 21. It will all start at approximately 1:00 p.m., after the mass, during which donations will be collected for the Virgin Mary. The products will be transferred to the Caritas organization. Dancers from El Hierro, a brass band from Puerto de la Cruz and various folklore groups will take part in the celebration. Everything will end with a boat trip along the town's coast. And in the evening there will be dancing to the music of the Saoco, Wamampy, Maquinaria, Sabrosa and Tropin orchestras.
On Saturday, September 20, at 8:30 p.m., there will be a mass and a procession with the icon of the Mother of God, accompanied by the brass band Sociedad Cultural José Reyes Martín. This will be followed by fireworks, and then a party with the Tropin and Revelación orchestras. On Wednesday, September 24, the day of the patron saint, at 8:30 p.m., a solemn mass will be held, followed by a procession accompanied by a stick dance from Chimiche.
