Thousands of people celebrated the maritime procession in El Médano in honor of the Virgen de las Mercedes de Roja, ending the day with a big party.

On Sunday, September 21, El Médano was crowded! Thousands of people gathered to celebrate the XVIII maritime procession in honor of Our Lady of Las Mercedes de Roja, their patron saint.

It all started with a mass and the collection of donations for Caritas. Then, dancers from the island of El Hierro paraded through the streets of the town, carrying the image of the Virgin to the beach. There, the boatmen carried her on board, and the sea procession began in the bay.

And the day ended with a big party with the orchestras Saoco, Wamampy, Maquinaria, Sabrosa and Tropin.

On Wednesday, September 24, the day of the patron saint, a solemn mass will be held at 8:30 p.m., followed by a procession, which this time will be accompanied by a stick dance from Chimiche.
