The program for the 2025 Christ festivities was presented in La Laguna, which will include more than fifty cultural, religious, and sporting events from September 4 to 21.

Yesterday in La Laguna, right at the town hall, the program and poster for the Christ festivities in 2025 were presented. We can expect more than fifty different events – cultural, religious, sporting, and folk festivals. All of this will take place in the city from September 4 to 21.

The presentation was attended by the Mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, the Councillor for Festivities, Dailos González, the Chief Steward of Christ, Eladio Alexis Díaz, the Rector of the temple, Víctor Álvarez, and the artist from La Laguna, Nareme Melián, who created the official poster for this year's festival.

Luis Yeray Gutiérrez emphasized that this festival is an important part of the city's cultural heritage. It has given many warm memories to the residents of La Laguna, who have been participating in these events since childhood.

"That is why we want to support the most important events of the Christ festivities and revive traditions that people remember but that we do not want to lose. For example, we are bringing back a parade similar to the former Battle of Flowers, which took place in the historical center of the city. This year it will take place again thanks to local groups," he added.

The mayor also noted that the Christ 2025 festivities program is designed for all ages. Special attention will be paid to the Festival for the Elderly (September 8) and children's fairs, which will take place on three Saturdays (September 6, 13, and 20). Entertainment and surprises await the little ones.

Dailos González noted that many groups, organizations, associations, and simply concerned people help make these holidays so special. He announced that the official start of the program will be on Thursday, September 4, when the "Canarias" basketball club will give a speech.

"After that, a busy program will begin, and famous artists and bands with national and international names will come to the city, such as José Vélez, Estrellas de Buenavista Social Club, Love of Lesbian, Edwin Rivera, Marilia Monzón or Locoplaya, and many others," the councillor added.

There will also be favorite events, such as the XLVII Sabandeño Festival (September 6), the concert of the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra (September 7), the IV Inclusive Verbena (September 10), the performance of Los Cantadores (September 12), the Pandorga and Fire Horses parade and the Night of Traditions (September 13), and the Night of Humor (September 17), in which Abubukaka and Antonia San Juan will participate.

Athletes will not be left out either. The Christ festival will feature the XLIV Christ People's Race (September 6), various stages of the LXV Tenerife Cycling Tour, which will pass through the city, as well as the Echo Hy-Race 2k25 and the Mixed Basketball Tournament (both on September 13), and other sporting events.

The Chief Steward of Christ spoke in detail about religious events, such as the ceremony of removing from the cross and transferring the image of Christ of La Laguna to the cathedral (September 9), as well as the main day of the festival – September 14, with a service and a return procession.

Nareme Melián spoke about the creation of this year's poster: "I wanted to return to the aesthetics and origins of this image, focusing on the sculpture, especially its left profile, which is rarely seen in portraits and photographs." "I had the opportunity to get to know the sculpture closely and was struck by its beauty and simplicity. Therefore, I decided to use ordinary things, such as iconic BIC pens, in combination with watercolor, to create this poster," he noted.

"It is a great honor for me to be involved in this, as a resident of La Laguna. I wanted to convey the meaning of these holidays through colors: green symbolizes Anaga, blue symbolizes our coast, and red symbolizes the Passion of Christ," he concluded.
