Dust Haze Returns to Canary Islands Friday, Tenerife Affected

Spain's weather agency AEMET warns that a mild dust haze will return to the Canary Islands this Friday, including Tenerife, bringing hazy skies and warmer temperatures as the region transitions to more stable weather.

AEMET, Spain's weather agency, has warned that dust haze is set to return to the Canary Islands this Friday. Tenerife will also be affected, with a slight rise in temperatures expected, especially in the southern and metropolitan areas. The suspended dust will first arrive in the eastern islands, then spread across the rest of the archipelago throughout the day.

In Tenerife, the north and northeast will see cloudy skies, with a small chance of light rain. The south, however, will remain clear. Highs in Santa Cruz will reach 24 degrees Celsius, with lows around 20 degrees. AEMET also predicts moderate winds from the northeast. These winds could have strong gusts on the southeast slopes and at the northwest tip during the afternoon and evening.

Although this dust haze event will be mild and mainly affect the middle and upper layers of the atmosphere, it is expected to create a somewhat hazy sky and increase temperatures across most of the islands. AEMET indicates that Friday will be a transition day, bringing more stable weather and warmer temperatures, particularly for Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, and Fuerteventura.
