A "drug boat" with 1.5 tons of hashish was detained in Tenerife
On Tenerife, police intercepted 1,500 kilograms of hashish and arrested three people during a special operation on a beach near Los Cristianos.
In Tenerife, Spain, police conducted a special operation and intercepted a large shipment of hashish – as much as 1,500 kilograms!
It all started when suspicious lights were spotted near the shore of the municipality of Arona at night. Police arrived at the scene and saw a "drug boat" with a pile of hashish packages approaching the shore.
According to preliminary data, the operation took place at night on the beach near the popular tourist town of Los Cristianos.
Law enforcement officers detained three men who were likely involved in unloading the drugs. They were sent to a temporary detention center, where they will await a court decision.
Criminals often use the coast of Tenerife to unload drugs, especially hashish, which is transported from Morocco.
If the drug is successfully unloaded, it is transported in vans or SUVs to special hiding places, where it is stored until it is sold in small batches.
As a reminder, on September 10, a semi-rigid boat, probably used for transporting hashish, was found off the coast of La Caleta de Interián. Nearby were barrels, possibly with fuel and water for the crew. But this time no drugs were found.
And in August last year, another boat adapted for drug trafficking was discovered near Los Silos. It is similar to those used by drug traffickers in other regions, such as the Strait of Gibraltar.
