Dog Rescued From Hot Car in Santa Cruz; Owner Investigated
Police in Santa Cruz de Tenerife rescued a dog from a hot car after waiting two hours for the owner to return, and are now investigating possible neglect.
Santa Cruz de Tenerife police rescued a dog left alone in a car on Juan Rumeu García street.
Concerned passersby noticed the dog and alerted a police patrol in the area. Officers waited about two hours for the owner to return to the vehicle.
When the owner didn't appear, police decided to open a window to free the dog, ensuring its safety. The dog was then taken to the Valle Colino animal shelter for care.
According to a police statement released on Thursday, the car was parked in the shade with a window slightly open.
Since they couldn't immediately find the owner, police filed a report under the vehicle owner's name. They also asked the Urban Environment Protection Group (Proteu) to investigate the situation and determine if anyone was responsible for neglecting the dog.
