Diver Dies in Fatal Accident Off Coast of Tenerife
A man died following a diving accident off the coast of Radazul in Tenerife this Saturday despite emergency responders' attempts to revive him.
Safety in recreational diving is back under scrutiny following a fatal accident this Saturday off the coast of Radazul, in the Tenerife municipality of El Rosario. According to the Canary Islands Emergency and Security Coordination Center (112), a man died while diving in the area.
Emergency services were alerted at 10:34 a.m. that a diver was in distress. A large response team was immediately dispatched, including Maritime Rescue, beach lifeguards, the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC), the Local Police, and the Civil Guard.
After the man was brought to shore, medical teams found him in cardiorespiratory arrest. Despite their efforts to perform advanced resuscitation, they were unable to revive him and were forced to confirm his death at the scene.
This incident serves as a reminder of the risks involved in diving, a sport that—despite strict safety regulations—remains physically demanding. Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident, as the specific cause of the tragedy remains unknown.
