Scandal at the "Isla Tenerife" Rally: Alonso disqualified, Bouza is the champion!
At the "Isla Tenerife Histórico 2025" rally, Félix Alonso was disqualified for gearbox non-compliance, Javier and Iván Bouza won in a Ford Escort RS 1800, and Giovanni Farina won the Peugeot Rally Cup Ibérica.
A scandal occurred at the "Isla Tenerife Histórica 2025" rally! Félix Alonso, along with his navigator Juan Ramón Chaves in a Citroen Saxo VTS, initially won the race. They had been leaders almost from the very beginning.
But the joy was short-lived. The sports commissioners inspected the car and discovered a violation. It turned out that Alonso's car had a gearbox that did not comply with the rules. In the PRE2000 class, only parts manufactured before 2001 are allowed, and Alonso's gearbox was newer.
Therefore, Alonso was disqualified, and the victory went to Javier and Iván Bouza in a Ford Escort RS 1800.
Javier Bouza not only won the race but also took the lead in the Spanish Championship in his category.
Second place went to Enrique Cruz, along with Marcelo López in a Ford Escort RS 1600. They lagged slightly behind at the beginning but then started to catch up. After Alonso's disqualification, third place went to Alexis Martín and Janet Hernández.
In the Regularidad Sport competition, Jaime and Enrique Carbonell emerged victorious.
As for the Canary Islands Championship, Enrique Cruz and Marco López won overall, while José Juan Díaz and José Rosmen Díaz won in Regularidad Sport.
Additionally, Giovanni Farina won the Peugeot Rally Cup Ibérica, even though he didn't perform very well in the last rally. His fourth-place finish was enough to secure the title.
