In La Laguna, the dilapidated Hotel Neptuno on the Bajamar coast, which has marred the area's appearance for years, will be demolished by decision of the city authorities and at the request of local residents.

In La Laguna, the old Neptuno hotel on the Bajamar coast is set to be demolished. Local residents have been waiting for this for a long time.

The city authorities plan to completely demolish the hotel building, swimming pool, restaurant, and 15 nearby houses. Everything will be done safely and under the supervision of specialists.

The demolition contract was signed with the company UTE. They will receive 395,000 euros. Nine companies participated in the tender.

The court has allowed builders to enter the hotel grounds. Prior to this, various approvals had been ongoing for many years, and the owner was against the demolition.

Currently, the contractor is developing a safety plan. After that, a document on the start of work will be signed, and the exact date will be determined.

The work will last six months. The city authorities will cooperate with road services and the police. They also plan to meet with local residents to inform them about everything.

The Mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, said that the city authorities are fulfilling their promise and responding to the requests of the residents of Bajamar.

He added that this will make the area safer and better, as the abandoned hotel spoiled the appearance of the coast. Now this place will once again become attractive to people.

Adolfo Cordobés, who is responsible for urban planning, explained that the demolition is a complex process that requires careful planning. Everything will be done safely, in compliance with all rules, and with minimal inconvenience to people.

The hotel was built back in 1959. In 2019, it was officially declared to be in disrepair. Over the years, the building deteriorated, owners changed, and this led to a long-standing conflict. This negatively affected the area and was dangerous for people.

The hotel owner should have repaired or demolished it himself, but he did not. Therefore, the city authorities will do it at his expense.

During the works, there may be traffic restrictions. This will be announced in advance so that people are aware. The city authorities will also hold meetings with residents to answer their questions.

Regarding the future use of this land, it is private property. Any plans must comply with urban regulations and environmental protection rules. The local development plan and other laws will be taken into account.

Adolfo Cordobés emphasized that the main thing now is to solve the safety problems created by the abandoned building and restore the area. Any future proposals must comply with the law.

The city authorities of La Laguna want to make the city better, safer, and restore public spaces for people.
