Danny Trejo Joins Cast of Spanish Dark Comedy 'Juntas hasta la muerte'
Production has commenced in the Canary Islands for the dark comedy thriller Juntas hasta la muerte, which features Hollywood actor Danny Trejo alongside a cast of prominent Spanish stars.
The Spanish film industry is setting its sights on the global market with Juntas hasta la muerte ("Together Until Death"), a new suspense-filled dark comedy. According to Deadline, filming began this October in the Canary Islands under director Igna L. Vacas, with Hollywood action icon Danny Trejo joining the cast.
Trejo, known for his long career in genre cinema, will play Ossorio, a law enforcement officer with unconventional methods who serves as the film’s antagonist. His involvement is part of producer Paco Sepúlveda’s strategy to give the project international appeal, using the diverse landscapes of the Canary Islands to create a visually ambitious production.
The story follows four friends—Zoe, Pam, Lisa, and Amy—whose lives spiral out of control after a prank leads to an accidental death. As the police investigation intensifies, the group struggles to cover up their mistake. The film’s aesthetic is designed to shift from bright and lighthearted to dark and tense as the violence escalates.
The lead roles are played by established stars of Spanish horror and suspense, including Sandra Escacena (Verónica) and Aria Bedmar (Sister Death), alongside Stephanie Gil and Nira Osahia. The cast also features Goya-award winner Carlos Santos and a special appearance by Víctor Palmero.
This project reflects a growing trend in Spanish cinema: integrating international talent to make local productions more competitive abroad. By utilizing the unique scenery of the Canary Islands, the filmmakers aim to deliver a story that balances high-impact visuals with a fast-paced, gripping narrative.
