Tenerife-born musician Dactah Chando celebrates his 20th anniversary with the release of Reset, a 12-track album recorded live to emphasize organic performance over digital artifice.

The Canary Islands music scene is taking a moment for creative reflection this week with the release of Reset, the twelfth studio album from Dactah Chando. More than just a new collection of songs, the album serves as a manifesto on the importance of organic, live performance in an era increasingly dominated by algorithms.

The project marks the Tenerife-born musician’s 20th anniversary in the industry. It follows a year-long break, which the artist used for personal and professional re-evaluation. Rather than signaling retirement, this hiatus inspired a new approach: stripping away modern technical artifice to focus on the music itself.

Technically, Reset moves away from standard digital production. Instead, the tracks were recorded with the musicians playing together in the studio, capturing their performance in real time. This "old school" approach is a deliberate effort to reclaim the human element in the face of growing artificial intelligence in music.

The 12-track album—featuring songs like Mercy, Conforme, Guía, Origen, Roots, Enemies, Times, Ahora, Girl, Vuelta, Sentido, and Gracias—explores the human condition today. Through these tracks, Dactah Chando takes listeners on a journey through his own emotional growth, challenging them to consider the value of authenticity in art. With this release, the artist closes a two-decade chapter and sets the stage for a new era defined by technical simplicity and honest storytelling.

Dactah Chando will perform the new work live this Thursday, March 26, at 8:30 p.m. in the Chamber Hall of the Teatro Leal.
