Cyclist Injured in Latest Accident on Tenerife’s TF-21 Mountain Road
A male cyclist was hospitalized with a collarbone injury following a crash on Tenerife’s TF-21 mountain road, renewing concerns over safety on the popular route.
Road safety on Tenerife’s mountain routes is back in the spotlight following another cycling accident. Data from the 1-1-2 Emergency and Security Coordination Center (Cecoes) shows that accidents remain a frequent occurrence on the roads leading up to the island’s peaks.
The latest incident happened shortly before noon this Saturday on the TF-21 road, near the entrance to Vilaflor. A male cyclist fell and suffered a moderate collarbone injury. Passing doctors provided initial care and stabilized him until the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) arrived. He was later taken to Hospiten Sur hospital for further treatment.
This accident highlights the risks cyclists face on the TF-21, where sharp curves and steep inclines are common. Because many athletes use this route to travel between the coast and Teide National Park, both cyclists and drivers must remain extremely cautious, especially on narrower sections of the road. The emergency response, which began after an alert at 11:27 a.m., underscores the importance of having quick-response protocols in place for these challenging, remote areas.
