Cook Music Fest Concludes in Tenerife, Cementing Status as Latin Music Hub

The fifth annual Cook Music Fest has wrapped up at the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, cementing its status as a premier hub for Latin music in the Canary Islands. According to Diario de Avisos, the festival concluded with a celebration of Caribbean rhythms, which also served as the final stop on Elvis Crespo’s Poeta Herido international tour.

During his performance, the Puerto Rican star embraced local culture by wearing a CD Tenerife jersey. He also shared the story behind his collaboration with Gran Canarian artist Quevedo on the song La Graciosa. Crespo admitted he was initially confused by the title, not realizing it referred to the eighth Canary Island—a detail that highlights the song's far-reaching impact.

The final night showcased both local talent and a blend of generations. Crespo’s granddaughter joined him on stage for a dance routine, while performances from the Yufunk Dance School and DJ Formula highlighted the festival’s mix of genres, ranging from merengue to electronic music. Additionally, former members of the orchestra Nueva Línea announced their return as an independent group, expressing their hope to perform at future festivals.

This year’s lineup, which featured international heavyweights like Don Omar, Chayanne, and Myke Towers, proved the port’s success as a major venue. The festival offered a mix of classic and romantic salsa from artists like Tito Nieves, Luis Enrique, Sergio Vargas, and Los Hermanos Rosario, acting as a significant boost for the city’s cultural and social scene.
