Tenerife: All parties supported the opening of the swimming pool in Los Silos, despite disagreements.

In Tenerife, all political groups supported the opening of the swimming pool in Los Silos. Local authorities promised to help the city obtain permission to operate the pool from the government of the Canary Islands and Spain. They are also ready to provide legal, technical and financial assistance.

The Socialists (PSOE) proposed to restore the pool, and they were supported by everyone. They believe that this is important not only for the city, but also for the entire region and the island. The Socialists praised the mayor of Los Silos, Carmen Luz Baso, for her efforts to get the pool up and running again.

The issue of the pool was also discussed at a meeting of the Los Silos City Council. The Socialists proposed to speed up the process of obtaining permission to operate the pool. The "Canarian Coalition" (CC) did not agree with some points in the proposal.

During the vote, the "Canarian Coalition" and the "People's Party" (PP) abstained. Independent deputy Antonio Javier de la Rosa Gonzalez supported the Socialists' proposal. Macarena Fuentes, a representative of the nationalists and former mayor of Los Silos, explained that she was not against the restoration of the pool, but did not agree with some details.

The swimming pool in Los Silos has not been operating for six years because the permit for its operation was not extended. Local residents even protested on September 27 to finally open the pool.
