Tenerife will get two new electric trains: authorities have approved the construction.
Spain, the Canary Islands, and Tenerife have agreed to jointly build two electric trains on the island, starting with the San Isidro - Costa Adeje section, at a cost of 950 million euros.
On Thursday, the Spanish government, the government of the Canary Islands, and the local council of Tenerife agreed to jointly build two electric trains on the island. This is in preparation for a major agreement that will provide funding for this project, similar to what was done for the railway on Gran Canaria.
The signing involved key figures from the government of the Canary Islands, including President Fernando Clavijo and Minister Ángel Víctor Torres, as well as representatives from the Spanish Ministry of Transport and the local council of Tenerife.
The initial plan is to build a section in the south, connecting San Isidro with Costa Adeje. This will cost approximately 950 million euros. The total cost for the entire line is estimated at around 2.5 billion euros.
