Conference on Spanish Republican Exile in Mexico to be Held in La Orotava
Fundoro hosts a free conference on the Spanish Republican exile in Mexico, focusing on the Ateneo Español de México's role in art and science, with Canarian teachers able to attend for training credit.
The Canary Orotava Foundation for the History of Science (Fundoro) is hosting a conference called "The Spanish Republican Exile in Mexico: Art and Science in Exile." It will take place from Wednesday to Friday at Fundoro's headquarters at Calle Calvario, 17, La Orotava.
You can register for free on their website (https://fundacionorotava.org) or at the Fundoro headquarters. The conference is open to everyone. Teachers from Canarian schools can also attend as part of a training course approved by the Government of the Canary Islands.
The conference aims to "recognize the important role of the Ateneo Español de México. This organization was founded on January 4, 1949, by Spanish refugees and Mexican intellectuals as a place to share ideas and learn from each other. Its goal was – and still is – to provide a space for open discussion, preserve the history of the Spanish exile, and promote education and science in Latin America and Spain."
