On the night of September 17, around midnight, police officers caught a man with two plaques in his backpack. He had just torn them from the sidewalk. The man confessed that he stole the plaques because he needed money and wanted to sell them.
The detainee is 47 years old, he already had problems with the law and lives in Las Galletas.
The police detained him for stealing a cultural asset. He was first taken to the hospital for examination, and then to the police station for further investigation.
The mayor of Arona, Fátima Lemes, thanked the police for their quick and efficient work, thanks to which it was possible to catch the thief and return part of the stolen goods. She emphasized that their commitment to protecting local heritage makes the city safer.
