Classic Mini Exhibition Draws Record Crowds in Tenerife

The popularity of classic car events in the Canary Islands was on full display this weekend in El Rosario, Tenerife. The 13th "Virgen de Nuestra Señora de La Esperanza" Classic Mini Exhibition brought together nearly 100 of the iconic British vehicles, cementing the town’s reputation as a key destination for historic motoring enthusiasts.

Organized by the MiniManía Tenerife group and the local council, the event has grown from a small private gathering into a highlight of the local festive calendar. This year, the exhibition drew participants from across the islands, including Gran Canaria, La Gomera, and Lanzarote, alongside a strong turnout from across Tenerife. The collection was impressively diverse, featuring everything from estate cars and vans to custom builds and meticulously restored models—some over 50 years old—that serve as true pieces of rolling history.

To add to the atmosphere, organizers encouraged attendees to dress in 1960s-inspired fashion, perfectly matching the era when the Mini first rose to fame. The event was so popular that the town center of La Esperanza became a bustling exhibition space, with crowds so large that extra parking had to be opened to accommodate the influx of visitors.

Beyond the fun, these gatherings play a vital role in preserving 20th-century industrial history. The care taken by owners to maintain original parts and authentic interiors shows a deep commitment to protecting a design that remains just as relevant and stylish today as it was decades ago.
