Civil Guard Warns of Dangerous Knife Disguised as Bank Card

The Civil Guard has issued a warning regarding the proliferation of bladed weapons disguised as everyday items, such as bank cards, noting that possession of these concealed tools will result in immediate confiscation and significant fines.

Law enforcement agencies are raising alarms over a growing trend: everyday objects being used to hide bladed weapons. The Civil Guard warns that these disguised items are making it harder to monitor public spaces and are posing a serious threat to safety.

The primary concern is a tool designed to look and feel exactly like a standard bank card. While it appears harmless enough to keep in a wallet, it is actually a folding knife with a stainless steel blade. Its danger lies in its design; because it is meant to blend in with personal belongings, it can easily bypass routine security checks.

From a legal perspective, carrying these items is a serious offense. The Civil Guard has made it clear that if these objects are discovered, they will be confiscated immediately and the owner will face formal disciplinary action. Under the Citizen Security Law, fines for carrying prohibited weapons are strict, ranging from 600 to 30,000 euros depending on the severity of the situation.

This trend shows that weapons are evolving to become less noticeable. Authorities emphasize that regardless of how these items are disguised, they remain dangerous weapons. They are reminding the public that maintaining safety depends on identifying these hidden risks, which may look like harmless accessories but pose a real threat to the community.
