Spanish Civil Guard officers have dismantled a violent criminal gang responsible for a series of armed robberies targeting businesses in Tenerife’s industrial estates.

Security in Tenerife’s commercial areas is back in the spotlight following a police crackdown on a gang behind a series of violent robberies. The Civil Guard recently dismantled the group, which was responsible for a brutal assault on a business in the Las Chafiras industrial estate in San Miguel de Abona.

The incident has raised concerns about the rise of organized crime in industrial zones. Four people—including a minor—traveled from Santa Cruz de Tenerife and San Cristóbal de La Laguna to carry out the robbery. The group used weapons, blunt tools, and chemical sprays to overpower those inside, stealing over 1,500 euros. During their escape, the suspects even used pepper spray against customers who tried to stop them.

Police solved the case by combining forensic evidence from the scene with undercover surveillance. This allowed officers to identify and arrest the suspects just days later, recovering items that directly linked them to the crime.

This incident highlights the risks faced by businesses in industrial estates, where the high volume of traffic and remote locations can be exploited by criminals. The three adults involved are now in custody awaiting trial, while the minor has been placed under the care of the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office. The arrests have brought some relief to local business owners, who have been calling for a stronger police presence to help deter such crimes.
