Civil Guard Busts Drug Dealing in Tenerife Tourist Town
The Civil Guard has shut down a drug dealing spot in Puerto Santiago, Tenerife, arresting a 26-year-old man and seizing over 20 grams of cocaine and more than 3,000 euros in cash.
The Civil Guard has announced they've shut down a drug dealing spot in Puerto Santiago, a popular tourist town in southern Tenerife. The operation concluded on February 20th, leading to the arrest of a 26-year-old man from Guía de Isora. He is accused of a public health crime, which typically refers to drug trafficking.
The Civil Guard said the investigation started after they noticed possible drug sales in Puerto Santiago's town centre. Officers from the Guía de Isora Main Post led the investigation. They managed to identify the suspect and uncover how and where he was allegedly selling illegal drugs.
In the final stage of the operation, police searched the suspect's home with a court order. There, they seized over twenty grams of cocaine. Some of the cocaine was already divided into portions ready for sale. They also found tools typically used to prepare individual drug doses. More than 3,000 euros in cash, believed to be from the drug dealing, was also confiscated.
The operation involved more than just officers from Guía de Isora. Specialized units, including Reserve and Security Group No. 8 and the Canine Unit from Santa Cruz de Tenerife, also took part. This highlights how complex and extensive these operations against drug trafficking can be. The arrested man has been handed over to the courts to face legal proceedings.
