The Civil Guard has arrested a 30-year-old man and is investigating a 36-year-old woman in connection with an ongoing extortion case targeting a local businessman.
The investigation started after the businessman reported that unknown individuals were demanding money from him, threatening him, his family, and his property.
At first, the victim paid the money demanded. However, when the threats became more severe, he decided to go to the authorities.
Investigators identified the main suspect and launched an operation to find him. During the operation, the suspect tried to escape by driving dangerously at high speed but was eventually caught.
Upon his arrest, officers discovered that the man was linked to two other similar cases, which have now been resolved.
The arrested man and the case files have been passed on to the relevant court.
The Civil Guard has also identified a woman who is being investigated for her involvement in the extortion of the businessman.
