City Council Publishes Juanra Álvarez's 'Favorite Corners' Calendar
The City Council has released a free 2026 calendar, My Favorite Corners, featuring photographer Juanra Álvarez's captivating images that showcase the town's hidden beauty and heritage.
The year kicks off with a photo of La Garañona's flower promenade. February features a stunning sunset view from El Sauzal's coast, and March brings a peaceful scene from the San José area.
These are just a few of the cherished locations chosen by photographer Juanra Álvarez. He's sharing them with local residents in the 2026 themed calendar, which the City Council has published. You can pick up a free copy at the Town Hall.
Titled My Favorite Corners: Secret Door to Unexpected Landscapes, the calendar encourages people to discover the town's hidden beauty through inspiring and striking photos. It's a project that captures the town's most magical and surprising spirit, showcasing places that are instantly captivating.
Beyond those months, Álvarez also selected a photo of the historic town center for April. May features the trails of Mount Ravelo, and June highlights the adventure of walking the Rojas trail.
Mid-year, July showcases the underwater world of Los Parrales bay, with a photo contributed by Francis Pérez. August brings a magical and mysterious image of the Los Ángeles temple, and September honors the kind and generous spirit of San Nicolás.
October reveals the beauty of the west from the main road. November, fittingly, depicts a chestnut harvest, and December concludes the year with a visit to the wine tradition museum. As an extra, there's a bonus photo of roosters in El Calvario on the back cover.
In all, the calendar features 13 unique photos. They highlight iconic, enchanting, and sometimes lesser-known spots around town. These range from fairytale-like alleys and natural areas to stunning viewpoints that offer a secret glimpse of the landscape. Each picture aims to spark curiosity and emotion.
According to Álvarez, the goal of this project is to showcase the town's natural, cultural, and architectural heritage. He wants the images to stir emotions in people. Each photo is notable for its careful composition, captivating look, and how well it captures the true spirit of each location.
“We hoped each page would invite people to see our town from a fresh, surprising, and personal viewpoint,” Juanra Álvarez explained. “This calendar celebrates who we are and the beautiful landscapes around us.”
Like past editions, next year's calendar is designed to be a collector's item. It features high-quality paper, a clean and elegant design, and a visual presentation that makes each month feel like a small piece of art.
Through My Favorite Corners: Secret Door to Unexpected Landscapes, the town reveals itself to the public as it always is: intimate, charming, and full of surprises. It's a special way to mark the year and connect with the everyday magic of the area.
Besides the author, Yaiza Díaz contributed the artistic vision and texts, Rafael Goya handled the graphic design, and La Esperanza Impresores S.L. was responsible for printing.
