Cisneros La Laguna has officially begun preparations for the 2026/27 season, marking a pivotal moment for the Tenerife-based club as it balances its Men's Superliga campaign with a return to international play in the CEV Challenge Cup. According to the club, the team has started six weeks of intensive physical and tactical training to ensure they are in top form for their league opener against Leganés on October 17th.
The roster features a mix of continuity and fresh talent. New head coach Máximo Torcello will lead a core group of returning players, including Sergio Noda, Nacho Roberts, Thomas Sleurink, Fabián Flores, Fran Duque, Adrián Oliva, Erick Costa, and Izunna Okafor. They are joined by six new signings: Nacho Espelt, Aaron Jódar, Gerard Rejón, Thiago Pozzato, Michal Trubač, and Edgar Rodríguez.
Club president Tomy López believes this season is about more than just results. While the team aims to reach the Cup and the title playoffs, the board is also focused on developing an exciting style of play that resonates with supporters. Coach Torcello’s immediate priority is building team chemistry, aiming to establish a clear identity that will help the squad handle the pressures of both domestic and European competition.
This preseason is vital for a club looking to cement its status in elite Spanish volleyball. Competing in the CEV Challenge Cup brings both logistical and athletic challenges, requiring a deeper bench and careful management of player fitness. A series of upcoming friendly matches will serve as a key test to integrate the new players and gauge how well the team can adapt to a demanding schedule.
